Key habits/rules that will increase the quality of your life.

Below I will list the basic habits thanks to which my life became better in almost every aspect. I sincerely encourage you to implement them to your life.

1) Regular physical effort

The basis of everything, the benefits of regular physical effort are countless. If your only physical effort consists of getting to and from your car then you have a problem that will only become worse as the time pass by. Start moving/working out today!

2) Reading books

Reading books have a wide variety of benefits, from priceless knowledge about certain subjects, through unique experiences to discovering great stories. Regular reading will make us better speakers, we will posses knowledge about things that are interesting for us and possibly make money out from it in the proces. While we read both our mind and body relax which translates for better well-being and health in general.

3) Cold showers

Cold showers can be very good for us, it improves our blood circulation, our mood and on top of that it soothes inflammations. Not only our health can benefit from it but also our financial situation, in the long run we can save noticeable amount of money by switching from hot to cold showers.

4) Resolving hardest tasks first

Practicing this habit in our personal life and job will be savior for our productivity and mental health. Leaving hardest task for the end makes us constantly stressed, distracted and a lot less productive and effective. These tasks can be salt in the eye through the whole day. On the other hand when we would manage them as first, then rest of the day only becomes better and easier nothing is bothering us and that is helping us to reach greater results.

5) Pay yourself first

By not following this rule you are sabotaging the growth of your wealth without even noticing. What is it about? For example if we decided that each month we want to save or invest 500$, then this 500$ should be invested or put in some separate saving account IMMEDIATELY after you receive the paycheck.

If you will do that the opposite way, in the end of the month, after you paid all your bills, you bought all food necessary to survive for the month etc. then all of a sudden you will notice that probably there's not much left from these 500$. On the other hand if we will invest this money directly then we will just not have a choice but to survive for the remaining of our salary. We will be then less tempted to spend money on worthless things that we don't really need because money that you don't have you can't spend.

You have to be careful with the decision what amount of money you want to invest/save each month. It cannot to be too much because you don't want to put yourself into a situation when you have to eat only bread or in the end of the month ask your family or friends to lend you some money. The key to success of this rule is well-thought and calculated home budget, about which you can read in my another post:

Fundamentals of personal finances - retrieve the control over your money.

6) Do not seek revenge

Very simple rule, despite that there is still a lot of people out there for which seeking revenge is a matter of honor. Seeking revenge will NEVER be good for you, the amount of stress, venom and negative consequences of your actions related to revenge are countless. If you want to take revenge on someone, think twice - are sleepless nights sacrificed for planning/thinking about revenge and re-living the bad things someone has done to you really worth it?

7) Do not compare yourself to others, instead compare yourself with you from yesterday

We live in an social media era, so there's is literally no better time to start following this rule. This rule is the key for our self development. Social media are bombing us with surreal standards of beauty, or pictures/posts showing us pseudo-luxury. We tend to compare our financial situation or the way we look with other people and that usually cause complexes and we lose any motivation to get going in process. To prevent that all the time seek for the progress and compare yourself only with you from yesterday.

8) NEVER take part in any lotteries that promises easy money

How many times have I heard sentence such as "I really want to become rich, maybe I should start taking part in lotteries then". When I hear that, then I know for sure that person with this mindset will never become rich. Of course I am aware of the fact, that there are people out there who became very rich thanks to lottery winnings, but statistical chance for that is so low that it is not worth trying. Not to mention that usually these people are losing that money as fast and easy as they got it. If you happen to buy some lottery tickets from time to time you should stop it right now and use this money for savings or investing - this will be the true step towards wealth.

9) NEVER take consumer loans

Taking a consumer loan is the worst financial decision you can ever make. You should never live beyond your means, if you cannot afford something then you just shouldn't buy it. Consumer loan can be compared to an anchor attached to you neck, sooner or later it will take you to the very bottom and you will drown.

10) Good sleep, more precisely - preparing to it

There are thousands articles about good sleep - it's length and quality but we will not focus on that now. I will instead present you technique how to prepare to sleep to get the most of it. It is called rule 10-3-2-1:

10 Hours before you go to sleep do not drink anything that contains caffeine

3 Hours before you go to sleep eat the last meal

2 Hours before you go to sleep do not make any intellectual effort (all kind of work or studies)

1 Hour before you go to sleep stop using any devices that emits blue light (phone, laptops)

How many of above listed habits/rules you already implemented to your life? How did they affect it?
